CHP Eighth Grader Receives CTY Honor from Johns Hopkins

Grade 8 Sarah Karlekar

Grade 8 Sarah KarlekarCedar Hill Prep would like to announce with great pride that our middle school student Sarah Karlekar has been the recent recipient of High Honors by The Johns Hopkins Center for Talented Youth, known as CTY. Sarah was singled out for her placement in 7th Grade among the 90th percentile in SAT Math and Verbal scores usually achieved by students already testing at the high school level.

Receiving Grand Honors for test scores that were among the very highest of any participants in the academic Talent Search conducted by CTY, Sarah will take part in an Awards Ceremony and receive a Grand Honors medal to commemorate this prestigious distinction. Sarah has previously been recognized for a number of academic victories, including First Place wins in the AMC 8 Math Competitions in 2020 and 2021, as well as with the Math Olympiads. She came in Second Place in the Mathcounts Competition and the Math League, in addition to receiving a silver medal in the National Spanish Exam.

A passionate advocate for education, both her own and that of others, Sarah is a member of Rho Kappa National Social Studies Honor Society and has founded her own nonprofit tutoring program called Learn With Us, in addition to her volunteer work as a debate coach with Bridgeton Middle School. She has been praised by instructors for her “maturity, dedication, respect, and perseverance” and has been called “a role model for others.” In her spare time, Sarah enjoys playing piano, painting canvases, and practicing Taekwondo.

Congratulations to Sarah and her family from the entire CHP community! We revere Sarah’s many achievements in her time at our school and look forward to everything she accomplishes in her final year with us as a CHP Eighth Grader. We cannot wait to see the impact Sarah makes in the future with the many great qualities she has to offer the world as she moves forward toward the academic opportunities that lie ahead.
