SOLAR SPRINTS 2019

Solar Sprint

Jr. Solar Sprint 2019 took place at New Providence High School on Thursday, May 16, 2019. CHP entered three teams in the competition. Each team competed with a uniquely designed solar powered car.  Of the fifteen races entered during the competition, the three teams collectively had five top four finishes: 1 first place finish, 2 second place finishes, 1 third place finish, and 1 fourth place finish.

The teams, composed of first year participants, were competitive in 33% of the races. The students’ achievements were remarkable, especially given the short amount of time dedicated to the design, procurement, fabrication, test, and competition.

The 6th and 7th grade participants will compete again in Jr. Solar Sprint 2020.  As they improve their designs, it is expected that CHP will achieve even greater success.

Special thanks to our graduating 8th grade participant, Abhiram Kakani, for his leadership and mentorship. We wish him well in High school and beyond.

Thank you to all of our participants for their enthusiasm, imagination, and dedication.  Looking forward to a successful 2020!
