36 out of 55 middle school world language students were honored: students achieved 4 gold, 10 silver, and 2 bronze medals along with 20 honorable mentions.

What Are The National Spanish Examinations?

These online tests are administered each year in grades 6 through 12, and are sponsored by the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese.

It is a standardized assessment that is voluntarily given by more than 3,800 teachers in the United States to measure the proficiency and achievement of students who are studying Spanish as a second language.

How Recognized Are These Examination Results?

The National Spanish Examinations are among the most used Spanish tests in the U.S. and is used by many administrative and teaching associations and organizations at the local, state and national levels.

“Attaining a medal or honorable mention for any student on the National Spanish Examinations is very prestigious,” said Kevin Cessna-Buscemi, National Director of the Exams, “because the exams are the largest of their kind in the United States with over 157,000 students participating in 2015.”

In order to be awarded a medal, students have to achieve a high percentile test result:

  • Gold Medal (95th percentile or higher),
  • Silver Medal Placement (85th – 94th percentile)
  • Bronze Medal Placement (75th – 84th percentile)
We want to thank and recognize Señora Collars’ wonderful efforts in teaching and preparing our students!
